The 850CSi is the most performance-oriented model of BMW's 8 Series E31 chassis. It is equipped with BMW's S70B56 V12 engine which displaces 5.6 liters and produces 375 horsepower and 406 foot-pounds of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag 6-speed manual transmission. Unique to the 850CSi models sold in Europe is a computer-controlled electrohydraulic four-wheel steering system co-developed by BMW and Bosch. Visual cues that set the 850CSi apart from the standard V8-powered 840 and V12-powered 850 are re-styled bumpers, mirrors, exhaust tips, and distinct 5-spoke wheels. Just over 1,500 were made between 1992 and 1996.
